Last week we decided to try out Brian's Christmas present -- a soft serve ice cream maker. (It's also supposed to be able to "mix in" sprinkles and other small treats with the ice cream.) The kids were so excited -- they immediately lined up to get their cone, but we told them it would be a little while before the ice cream was ready.
Our first batch had mixed success. It took longer than we expected and never quite got "solid" enough that we felt like we could put it in a cone. (Plus I put in plenty of vanilla so it definitely had a strong flavor.) So we all had a little cup of very "soft" ice cream instead.
Next time, we will try a couple of things differently and see how it works!
