More Furniture!

I promised to take pictures of McKay's room with the new furniture in it, so he tidied up enough for me to do that. (Actually, it wasn't that big of a mess.) I don't know if this is how we'll keep the furniture arranged, but this is how it is for now.

Here is the bed, nightstand and bookcase (this bookcase used to be downstairs in our dining room):

We didn't know what to do with the old box springs that we had taken off, so Brian ended up completely removing the boards that held up the mattress as part of the bed frame and setting the box springs down on the floor (inside the frame) with the mattress on top. We put the baseball fitted sheet that came with his comforter on the box springs (McKay insists on flannel sheets on the bed), so it looks kind of like a bed skirt. It made the mattress a little bit lower than when it was set on the frame boards, but works (and we don't have to store the box springs!).

Here is the other side of the room:

We are planning to get a different chair for the desk. I was going to just get a brown or black fabric folding chair, but it's almost too low for him at the desk, so I might see what other options are available that might be a little higher. We told him the desk is for homework and not for a computer, but he brought the laptop in this afternoon to just "try it out" anyway (it doesn't have an Internet connection in there).

It's been a pretty quiet Sunday. The kids made a big Play-Doh mess on the table this afternoon, but they all did help clean-up (albeit grudingly, as usual!).

(And no, Courtney is not wearing any pants, but she does have some underwear on. Unfortunately she has really not made any noticeable progress in the potty training area. Sigh)

Hayley only got out of bed once tonight -- much better than last night! I think she's maybe learning that everytime she gets out of bed, I take something out (like her books, sippy cup, toys, etc.).

No big plans for Labor Day tomorrow --just hang out here at home most likely, maybe run an errand or two to get ready for Hayley's preschool group on Tuesday!
