One afternoon, we walked down to the lake with the intent of letting the kids wade in it if they wanted (i.e. they were all wearing shoes that could safely get wet). When we got down to the floating dock, there was a couple playing fetch in the water with their big black dog. They invited the kids to find some sticks to throw into the water for the dog to retrieve.

The kids thought it was great! (In this picture, you can see the dog swimming back with the stick.)

Courtney was the first to get wet -- and boy did she get wet! (We had told them they could wade, not swim!)

Before long, she was wet head to toe!

Hayley enjoyed wading, but didn't go out too far.

We walked a little further down the shore to see what we could find.

Brian gave some stone-skipping lessons (McKay used his wrist rocket from Star Valley to shoot out some rocks)...

Hannah found a funny-shaped tree root...

...and lots of rocks...

...at one point she started hauling every rock she could lift out of the water.

Hayley picked up on the rock collecting idea and got a Zip-loc bag for her rocks (plus some extra water!)

Mom has camera in hand, as usual...

McKay, who was grumbling initially about how "boring" wading in the lake would be, finally gave it a try and ended up going in chest deep!
